북한전략센터는 북한주민의 자유와 인권을 되찾고, 북한 내에 민주주의를 확산시키는 것을 최고의 목표로 삼고 있습니다. 이를 실현하기 위해 북한전략센터는 전문가들과 함께 통일 전략을 연구하고, 미래 통일 한국을 준비하는 인재 양성활동, 북한 내부의 민주화 의식 확산사업과 북한 인권상황을 알리는 교육을 진행하고 있습니다.

북한민주화위원회 선교부가 2008년도 첫 사업을 시작했다. 북한민주화위원회 여성부장이 26일 한국기독교회관에서 열린 조찬기도회에서 신앙 간증을 하였다. 조용포 목사님이 인도한 이날 기도회에는 북한민주화위원회 김영순 선교부장과 100여명의 신도들이 참석하였다.
이날 간증을 한 김연희 북민위 여성부장은 “북한 복음화와 탈북인들의 성공적인 대한민국 정착에 많은 관심을 기울여 줄 것”을 호소하였다. 그는 또한 “많은 탈북자들이 하나님을 믿고 있으며 북한 동포들도 하나님을 영접하는 그날이 어서 왔으면 좋겠다”고 말하였다.
이날 조찬 기도회를 마치고 선교부는 “북한민주화위원회 선교부가 북한의 복음화를 위해 다방면의 노력을 기울여 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
